Plateau United have been crowned champions of the 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) after beating visiting and former champions Enugu Rangers 2-0 on Saturday, September 9.

The Flying Antelopes who were champions last season stormed the Rwang Pam Stadium in Jos to fight for their Premier League status next term in the Nigeria's top flight.

But they met United who needed a win in front of their faithfuls to rubbish any result that will come from the tie between El-Kanemi Warriors and MFM FC.
Striker Emeka Umeh scored the first goal for Plateau United in the 25th minutes before Benjamin Turba netted the second and winning goal at the death for the hosts.

Plateau United and MFM FC will now represent Nigeria in the 2017/18 CAF Champions League tournament.
MFM FC finished as runners-up on Saturday after losing 1-2 in their tough match against El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.
